Melony Stuckey “Mel” has always been a connoisseur of art. From a young age she was drawn to vivid colors and became inspired to pursue her dream of becoming an artist. During her life she has studied and worked with many artists in a variety of mediums, from glass, clay and textiles to drawing and painting. She has had the honor of receiving her most recent training in acrylics from Suzanne Morgan Wilkins, owner of Holly Cove Studios in Lexington, SC. She is also a member of the South Carolina Water Media Association.

Mel has successfully pursued many different avenues within the field of art in order to find her niche. In the 1980’s she designed a line of clothing for Melony’s Originals. Years later she found a new career as a graphic designer and printing consultant. After retiring, she has become a Independent South Carolina Artist. Melony has taught many workshops and has had the opportunity to display and compete in many art shows across the US, including the McKissick Museum. She currently has work on display and for sale locally with M Gallery in the Old Mill of Lexington, SC.
Painting with acrylics has allowed Melony to express her respect for nature and the beautiful colors in the most unique way. Her love of clay and textiles has given her the experience to know how to manipulate the canvas to give her paintings a textured and almost 3-D look. You will just want to reach out and touch the pieces that she creates and she will invite you to do just that. Mel creates her artwork as a way to transform her soul and humbly shares it with you as a way to take in the vivid beauty of our earth!
Mel, along with daughter, Sonja Sharpe, also owns a glass and recycled art business called Hazbeens. The art is simply ingenious. You never know what they will come up with next!
